A Workshop on Batik and Kalamkari

Department of painting conducted a weeklong Batik and Kalamkari workshop for the students of BFA Painting 5th semester
Department of Painting invited the Expert Artist, Maria Clara to impart the knowledge of traditional Batik to 28 students who had participated in the 45 hours value added course exclusively planned for them to enhance technical skills in making modern paintings using traditional methods of both Batik and Kalamkari. Maria Clara spent minimum 45 hours with students working on Kalamkari fabrics and involving in the stages of kalamakari making. The students were taken to her studio for dying process and some utilized the facilities provided by the department. The students learnt various techniques involved in making art on fabric and produced beautiful art forms.
