Library has excellent quality of about 14,963 Books on various subjects including Reference Books, Architectural Design, Building Construction, Structural Engineering, Landscape Architecture, Interior Design & Decoration, Decorative Arts, Urban Planning & Design, Regional Planning, Construction Management, Economics, Law, Environment, Rural Development and other allied areas.

Reference Books are meant for consultation within the Library. The Library has a rich collection of about 2,000 Reference Books including Dictionaries, Encyclopedias, Standards, Bound Volumes of Periodicals, Theses, Maps, Important Subject Reference Books, Text Books, Reading Materials, Syllabus & Question Papers, Rare & Valuable Books, Out-of-Print and Irreplaceable Documents, Oversized and Special Books.

LIC subscribes to 65 Scholarly Journals and 7 Newspapers. Journals are displayed in alphabetical order on the journal display racks for easy reference and consultation.

LIC has a valuable collection of about 1,164 Bound Volumes of Journals. Every year, scholarly and useful journals are bound, preserved and arranged alphabetically on the shelves for future reference and academic use.

The Library has an extensive collection of about 2,650 Theses covering Architecture, Planning and Allied Subject Areas. Theses of B.Arch, B.Tech (Planning), B.Tech (FSP), B.Tech (DTDP), B.Design (ID), M.Arch (ID), M.Tech (Planning), PGDID, Ph.D. and other programmes are arranged course-wise according to student roll number for easy reference and use.

LIC maintains a good collection of ITPI Reading Materials covering various Planning Subjects and Related Areas, which are extensively used by students.

LIC has a collection of about 131 Maps covering various subject areas for academic reference.

The OPAC (Online Public Access Catalogue) enables users to search and locate documents available in the Library quickly and efficiently. Users can search by Author, Title, Subject, Keywords and Boolean Searches through various access points. The Shelf Number indicates the location of a book, and users are provided with orientation on using OPAC. It also allows users to check the availability status of books, reserve issued books, access the new arrivals list, and view Table of Contents and Abstracts for selected books through multimedia links. The Library also provides access to scanned Table of Contents pages of important reference books.

The Library Circulation Section manages the lending of books and other library materials to registered users for home reading. It is one of the key service sections of the Library and ensures efficient issue and return of library resources.

Reference Service provides user-friendly assistance to students, faculty and researchers in locating the required information and library resources. Users may approach the Circulation Desk for guidance in using the Library collections and services. The Library staff assists in locating misplaced books, identifying and using electronic and print resources, locating information within and outside the Library, answering specific information queries and formulating effective information search strategies.

Current Awareness Service (CAS) keeps users informed about the latest professional developments by providing lists of new arrivals, newly subscribed journals, journal contents pages and other recent publications relevant to their fields of interest.

The Inter-Library Loan (ILL) Service enables the Library to borrow documents unavailable in its collection from other resourceful libraries for academic and research purposes. The service operates on an Institution-to-Institution basis. Borrowed materials must be handled carefully and returned on time. The Library maintains strong cooperative arrangements with several leading libraries for the benefit of the SPA community.

• Internet facility is available only to registered Library users.
• The facility should be used strictly for academic and research purposes.
• Users are requested to share the facility with others.
• Any misuse should be reported to the Librarian.
• Internet facility is available from 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM on all working days.
• All systems are equipped with Electronic Surveillance Software to monitor Internet usage.
• The Librarian reserves the right to discontinue the service and initiate disciplinary action against users found misusing the facility.

Document Scanning Facility is available in the Library at a nominal cost. Scanning of Library materials is permitted subject to copyright regulations.

Photocopy Facility is available on a payment basis. Library materials can be photocopied in accordance with the applicable copyright regulations.

The Library maintains a multimedia collection of over 1,550 CDs, DVDs and Streaming Titles. Users can browse DVD titles through the OPAC or search the Library Catalogue. The Library also provides access to its Streaming Media collection.

User Orientation introduces new users to the Library’s collections, organization, facilities, services, physical layout, activities, rules and regulations, enabling them to make effective use of Library resources.

The Library prepares and provides Subject Bibliographies containing books and other information resources on specific topics based on users’ requests.

The Book Bank Service provides free textbooks and reference books to SC and ST students. Books are issued for one month or one semester and must be returned immediately after examinations. Lost or damaged books must be replaced. Students must submit the prescribed application form with the recommendation of the Head of the Department before books are issued.

Relevant articles from newspapers received by the Library are scanned, clipped and displayed on the notice board before being filed for future reference. These Press Clippings are useful for preparing reports, presentations and staying updated on current events.
