The course, broadens the intellectual and social lives of students beyond the boundaries of architecture and the build environment. Founded in the year 1940 as department of architecture in the erstwhile college of Fine Arts and Architecture, it became the School of Planning and architecture in 1989, and a constituent institution of Jawaharlal Nehru Architecture Fine Arts University.
The School offers B.Architecture (full time) 5-years, Degree programme in architecture. The curriculum is designed on the idea of learning through doing. Throughout the course students work on design project, usually related to practical situations on lives sites. As far as possible the academic input to the course is related to the programmes being carried out in the design studio. Student's progress is monitored through a combination of continuous assessment in design studios, written examinations, group discussions reviews, and juries for each field of study. The program includes relevant courses dealing with concepts, process technical details and design practice, as well as electives in an area of student's interest. The course work is structured to help the student understand finer aspects of architecture which are very much integral to designing, planning and construction of buildings. It aims to impart quality education through effective communication skills, making the students conscious of built form in the contemporary Architectural scenario.
Intermediate(10+2) (Maths stream)
The students have to qualify in NATA (Nation al Aptitude Test Architecture) conducted by the Andhra Pradesh State Council for Higher Education.
In independent practice an architect is expected to understand specific requirements of clients and strike the right balance between aesthetics and practicality. An architect with skills can help clients with his ideas in terms of balancing the requirements of appearance, financial budget and time frame. Some architects even work independently and earn their livelihood through consultancy fees which entirely depends upon their skill, profile as well as work experience.

Many American, British and Australian universities offer Masters Program in Architecture and other related specializations.
