Dr. Kavita Daryani Rao is an alumnus from the erstwhile College of Fine Arts and Architecture, JNTU. She graduated in 1981 with a Bachelor of Architecture, and a Master of Housing from SPA, New Delhi. She completed her Ph.D. in the field of housing.

She has worked in the University from 1985 in various positions including Head of Department of Architecture, Additional Controller of Exams and Director of Evaluation.

She continues to take an active interest in teaching while establishing and contributing to the administration of the University.

A special University for Architecture and Fine Arts was formed a few years back opening up an opportunity for rapid growth and development of these non-conventional faculties. The role played both by the built environment as well as the fine arts, is gaining increasing significance in current times. It is her endeavor to work towards progressive, smart growth and to create a platform for bringing together talent in these fields in a congenial environment to achieve their full potential.

In the faculties of Architecture and Fine Arts, linkages and networks with the industry are extremely important and cannot be over emphasized. One of the objectives of the University is to create these networks which will provide a platform for meaningful academic growth, by which the University can also give back to the larger community and contribute to overall social development.
